Every person who shows up for a young man changes the trajectory of his life. Here are the four ways you can get involved with Young Dreamers International.
Become a Mentor
One hour a week can change a young man's life.
Mentors are the backbone of YDI. As a mentor, you walk alongside a young man — listening, guiding, and showing up consistently. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to be present.
YDI mentors commit to meeting with their mentee at least twice a month, attending YDI events, and completing our mentor orientation training. All backgrounds and professions are welcome.
What's required
- 23 years or older
- Pass a background check
- Complete mentor orientation (2 hours)
- Commit to 2 meetings per month
Join the Program
For young men ages 12–25 who are ready to grow.
If you are a young man between the ages of 12 and 25, or a parent or guardian of one, YDI's program is designed for you. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and spots are limited.
Program participants gain access to all five pillars — leadership, community engagement, mental health support, education resources, and spiritual growth — as well as a network of mentors, peers, and professionals who invest in their success.
What's required
- Young men ages 12–25
- Commitment to attend monthly sessions
- Parent or guardian consent (under 18)
- Willingness to grow and give back
Volunteer
Your skills and time are exactly what we need.
YDI runs on the energy and expertise of volunteers. From event support and workshop facilitation to photography, social media, and administrative help — there is a role for every skill set.
Volunteers are the hands and feet of this organization. Whether you can give a few hours a month or a few hours a week, your contribution makes a direct difference in the lives of the young men we serve.

- Attend volunteer orientation
- Flexible time commitment
YDI Leadership Experience Trip
We're raising funds to take our young men on three transformational experiences — the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, AL, the Operation HOPE Leadership Event in December, and the Obama Presidential Center. These trips connect our youth to history, economic empowerment, and the highest levels of leadership.
